Spiritual Life » Chapel
Wellington Christian School meets every other week for a chapel worship time that seeks to honor God and worship Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Though we seek to engage students thoroughly and make chapel a rewarding experience, this time is not primarily about our needs, but on developing a hunger and thirst for the living God.
Our theme this year is "Building Community in Christ". Our chapel speakers, songs, and experiences will focus on the importance of connecting deeply with God and with others, so that we may be a family that loves each other as Christ loves us. As faculty and students share their personal stories, we want to see a Biblical picture of a God who is majestic and beyond us yet also with us in our deepest needs. We will encounter the Jesus who is holy and demands that we come clean, yet by his loving sacrificial death has made a way for us to be cleansed from our rebellion and sin.
What might you see in a typical chapel service? Faculty and student-led singing, for one. We desire God to receive honor from us with songs that are both true and passionate. On occasion we will have special singing from our school choirs, or we might have a skit from the drama team that gives a Biblical teaching visual clarity. Faculty and students will speak and give testimony of something God has done that has transformed their relationship with Him. Sometimes we may use a movie clip or a video to make a spiritual point. But whatever we do, the goal is twofold: First, to exalt and honor Jesus Christ, and second, that students and faculty may be seeking Jesus more passionately at the end of each day than they were at the beginning.
